Liverpool’s players have been quiet on social media after the loss against Burnley last night.
That was probably for the best. Nobody wanted to see a generic ‘we go again’ or ‘onto the next’ message following such an embarrassing display.
James Milner has become the first Liverpool player to post on social media after the club’s 1369-day unbeaten record in the league at Anfield was finally broken.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 by Burnley courtesy of an Ashley Barnes penalty. It extended Liverpool’s winless run in the league to five matches. They have also failed to score in their previous four.
As vice-captain, Milner has taken responsibility and sent a defiant message to supporters on Instagram, calling for fans and players alike to join together during what is undoubtedly Jurgen Klopp’s toughest period as Liverpool manager.

There is no making up for such a meek surrender at the home of the English champions. However, amidst the doom and gloom, Liverpool have the perfect run of fixtures to put things right.
Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Manchester United is followed by difficult league visits to Tottenham and West Ham. February begins with Brighton at Anfield before high-stakes games against Manchester City (home), Leicester City (away), RB Leipzig (away) and Everton (home).
If such a gargantuan set of fixtures isn’t able to wake up the players then unfortunately, nothing will.
Liverpool, then, can give fans a minor lift with a win over United at the weekend.
Milner himself is likely to feature, having been an unused substitute against Burnley. With Henderson currently injured, he could be the skipper when Liverpool take to the field at Old Trafford.
He will desperate to inspire a much-needed victory for the Reds in the FA Cup on Sunday.
