James Milner has shared his delight for Liverpool after seeing his old club win the Premier League title.

Meanwhile, the former Reds vice-captain praised Mohamed Salah in particular as he opened up on what sets the Egyptian apart from other players.

The 39-year-old won every major honour during his eight years at Anfield, making 332 appearances and returning 26 goals and 45 assists, before signing for Brighton & Hove Albion when his contract expired in the summer of 2023.

He has missed the majority of the current campaign through injury, but was spotted catching up with his old Liverpool team-mates in the tunnel after the Reds’ 3-2 loss to Brighton on Monday night.

A key member of the Liverpool side that last won the Premier League in 2020, Milner is still in contact with a number of his old team-mates.

“It's always nice to see your previous clubs doing well.

“I still have a lot of mates there (at Liverpool) and you always want them to do well and especially when… like obviously (at) Liverpool, I spent so long there.

“Obviously Newcastle, I knew how much they wanted to win a trophy for so long and then finally getting over the line.

So yeah, it's obviously nice to see that.

“The Liverpool boys, I obviously keep in touch with them, send on the congratulations and good to see them doing well.”

Meanwhile, Milner picked Salah as his Premier League player of the season as he revealed the Egyptian would regularly speak to him during their time as team-mates as he sought advice and thrived to keep improving as a player.

“I think it’s tough to look past Mo Salah,” he said.

“You know his numbers are incredible and being lucky enough to play with him and seeing his work-rate, how hard he looks after himself, how well he looks after himself, how hard he works in the gym.
