Harvey Elliott has been a regular feature in the transfer rumours that have emerged from Liverpool this summer.

The midfielder was left out of Arne Slot’s plans on more than one occasion last season, with the Dutchman hardly giving him any playing time.

However, although he didn’t play much in the 2024-25 season, Elliott didn’t let his lack of game time stop him from being a shining light in England’s Under-21 Euros campaign.

As mentioned, now that the Villans have entered the race for Elliott, it feels like a matter of when, not if, the midfielder is going to leave Liverpool.

As per a fresh report from The Athletic journalist James Pearce, an update has been shared on where things stand for Liverpool and Elliott at the moment.

“Aston Villa keen to sign Harvey Elliott, loan more likely than a permanent,” he wrote.

“Alexander Isak’s arrival likely to lead to Elliott leaving Liverpool today if a suitable proposal is received.”

There’s no hiding from the fact that Elliott has plenty of potential to fulfil.

Not only would it allow him to earn some valuable Premier League experience, but it would also enable him to prove his worth and perhaps show that he deserves a place in the Reds’ starting XI in future years.

Of course, only time will tell whether the move for Elliott will be pulled off, but if it is, a loan move to Unai Emery’s team is the best thing for everyone.

That is, even if RB Leipzig end up putting in a bid worth £50million for the former Fulham man.
