Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool that securing Alexander Isak's signature wouldn't automatically deliver them the Premier League crown.

But his fellow Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville believes it would make them the big favourites.

The Reds clinched the title by a commanding 10-point margin last term and have subsequently invested nearly £300m in fresh talent.



They've also seen a £110million bid for Isak rejected by Newcastle.

However, with the Swedish forward pushing to leave the Magpies, there remains a chance he could get what he wants and clinch a move to the defending champions.

When quizzed about Liverpool's chances of eventually landing Isak, Sky Sports analyst Carragher responded: "Yeah, I think so, but I don't get this narrative of Liverpool are going to run away with it."

Carragher highlighted the Reds' Community Shield loss to Crystal Palace as proof that new arrivals like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike will need time to gel.

"If you look at history, it could tell you that it's not just about having the best players, it's about having the best team, and sort of making that balance right, and at the weekend it didn't quite look right," said Carragher, who made 737 appearances for the Reds during his one-club career, winning seven major trophies.

"I think we will have a title race, and I think there's a lot of talk.

"I think the great thing about football is what we actually saw on Sunday with Liverpool.

It didn't look right.

"It tells me it's not just about spending lots of money and buying the best players, you've still got to manage that team and make it work and have a nice balance to it."

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 more.

However, ex-Manchester United defender Neville reckons that securing Isak could make Liverpool the top contenders to keep hold of the title.

"Liverpool won it really comfortably last year and have had a great transfer window," he commented during the unveiling of Sky Sports' Premier League coverage.

"If they get Isak, which it looks like he's agitating for a move, then it will make them massive favourites.

"But Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, I think will push them closer than last year."
