Trent Alexander-Arnold was booed by Liverpool fans vs Arsenal(Image: Getty Images)
Jamie Carragher has disagreed with Arne Slot, who suggested he will continue to pick Trent Alexander-Arnold despite being booed by his own fans against Arsenal.
The boyhood Reds star announced he was ending his long association at Anfield this summer and looks set to join Real Madrid, a move that has not gone down well with supporters.
The 26-year-old played the final 23 minutes of Liverpool's 2-2 draw against the Gunners after coming on for Conor Bradley, but was jeered by a section of the home support as some sang: "There's only one Conor Bradley".
His manager Slot said he was adamant that Alexander-Arnold would remain available for selection despite the ongoing animosity.
Speaking after the game, the Dutchman said: "The thing I consider is I want to win a game of football and if we think we can win with Trent, I owe it to his team-mates and to the fans, because they (Liverpool) hired me to win as many games of football as possible.
"And if I think there's a better chance of winning with Trent, then I will (pick him).
But I think Trent showed today why I brought him in because he was very close with a few fantastic crosses for us to win the game."

However, club legend Carragher believes he might not wear a Liverpool shirt again, despite the team having two more games to play this season against Brighton and Crystal Palace.

"That could’ve been his last performance, which might be the right thing as Liverpool don’t need a circus," he told Sky Sports.
Carragher added that the player shouldn't get a send-off but condemned the boos from fans because he was still representing the club.
"That was a step too far," the former defender said.
Don’t boo a player as it opens you up to criticism from supporters up and down the land about Liverpool supporters.

‘I’m surprised how many.
When you’re in a crowd of 60,000, there’s no doubt there’s a lot of unhappy people at Liverpool about the situation.
Booing one of your own players while they’re playing is not for me."

It's believed Madrid have agreed terms to sign Alexander-Arnold but the Spanish club want to sign him before his Liverpool contract ends so he can play in the Club World Cup - which would require them to pay a small fee.
