Liverpool’s busy summer shows no signs of slowing down, and fans can expect more arrivals to follow swiftly.

The Reds have been pretty inactive over the last few windows and spent small amounts of money, but this summer is very different.

Owners FSG clearly have the intent of backing Arne Slot as the Dutchman looks to build upon his title-winning team, with new additions queuing to join.

Jeremie Frimpong was the first arrival and his old teammate Florian Wirtz could reunite with him soon, with both these deals combined costing an estimated £160m.

Liverpool’s plans to recruit do not stop there either, with Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez keen to join the Reds, while rumours of more attacking options continue to circulate.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is one man helping to grow speculation and he has had his say on who the club should sign after getting the Wirtz deal done.

With many attackers rumoured to be leaving Liverpool in the summer, including Luis Diaz who is wanted by Al Nassr, the Reds are keen to bring in a striker.

Quality strikers can win you games of football single-handedly and bring titles to your club, with Liverpool perhaps having lacked a clear number nine this season.

This is something Jamie Carragher has recognised and speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate podcast, he believes this is the position Liverpool need to target once the Wirtz deal is complete.

“Frimpong will fight for a good chance of playing with Conor Bradley, Florian Wirtz plays if he comes to the club, but I still think we need the centre forward,” Carragher said.

“I think Liverpool will look to get their business done really early.

Because I think if they haven’t signed anyone for a year, we know how Liverpool, they’ll be in the background speaking to the agents six months ago.”

If Liverpool do go out and get a striker, it will certainly send shockwaves throughout the league, and all the signs point to it eventually happening.

Liverpool have not been short of links to big strikers this summer, with Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres seeming the most likely candidates.

All three have had incredible seasons and have proven themselves as clinical finishers, although they will all come at a hefty price.

Between £70m-£100m is what Liverpool could expect to pay for any of them, a figure that would take their summer outlay to well over £200m.

Robbie Fowler has recently urged Liverpool to sign Ollie Watkins and he could be another potential option, but full focus is on the Wirtz deal before any decisions are made.
