Liverpool have all-but conceded in the race for the Premier League title, and in probably the worst possible way for the Reds fanbase.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool charges have contested one of the most exciting title races in recent years along with Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, on Wednesday night, Liverpool found themselves three points behind the table-topping Gunners in wake of their 2-0 defeat at Everton.

Put simply, the Reds were bullied by their Merseyside rivals, who got the better of them on the pitch and on the scoresheet.

While the Toffees were fierce in their pursuit of bragging rights and valuable points in their battle against the drop, Liverpool seemed like deer in the headlights.

Everton opened the scoring in the 28th minute as Ibrahima Konate failed to clear a loose ball and it found its way to Jarrad Branthwaite, who poked the ball past Alisson Becker and into the net off the post.

Then, just before the hour mark, an Everton corner fell kindly to the unmarked Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who had all the time in the world to plant a free header into their bitter rivals’ net.

Liverpool icon and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher delivered a brutal verdict just after the final whistle.

“This is the end of the title run for Liverpool,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“It almost feels like the end.

They just have to make sure they finish the season strongly.

They are not clinical enough in both boxes.”

It’s a massive shame that Klopp’s final season at Liverpool looks set to end with a whimper.

Sure, the Reds have won the Carabao Cup, but it looks as though the Premier League title is now between Arsenal and Man City.

Liverpool are next in action on Saturday, when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium in the day’s early kick-off.
