Ruben Amorim’s time as Man United manager has not gone as planned so far, with a change in fortunes for the club yet to be forthcoming.
Amorim was appointed Man United manager in November 2024 following a successful spell at Sporting in Portugal.
Following a mixed run of results to begin the new campaign, Amorim is under pressure at Man United.
Man United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea has lifted the mood, but they remain 11th in the Premier League table having shown little progress since Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

When Amorim was appointed Man United manager, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher had high hopes for his tenure at Old Trafford.
Speaking to The Telegraph in 2024, Carragher said: “Longer-term, we can expect a significant improvement in results and performances.
“Short-term, it is natural to expect teething problems.”

Amorim came 15th in his first season at Man United, and lost the Europa League final to Spurs meaning the Red Devils are not competing in European football this season.

With just two wins in six matches in all competitions to begin the new season following a summer of transfer business to shape his squad, Amorim needs performances and results fast.
Amorim’s system though is the major problem, as despite recruitment, the current squad does not fit naturally into his 3-4-2-1 shape.
Box-to-box midfielders have not been recruited, the defence is still weak and Amorim has a major goalkeeping issue.
There are still many problems for Amorim to fix at the club, though he does not have much time to fix them.
