Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has included four of the current Reds’ players in his Premier League Team of the Season, but there is one notable absentee.
With the end of the 2024/25 Premier League season closing in fast, with the title chase and the relegation battle pretty much wrapped up already, it is becoming clear who the best players in the division are.
Each team has about six games left in the campaign, so it’s easy to tell at this point which players have disappointed on the pitch and those who have stood out with fine performances throughout the season.
Carragher has named his picks for the division’s Team of the Season, and it’s not surprising that it features many Liverpool players.
The Reds are on the cusp of lifting the 2024/25 Premier League title, and there is no denying that their players have been among the best in the division.
The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch have played almost every minute in the league this season, so they are easily added among the league’s best players this season.
The trio, alongside four other Liverpool stars, were included in the EA SPORTS FC Premier League Team of the Season nominations.
However, one among the three aforementioned players was not included in Carragher’s Premier League Team of the Year.
During an interview with GOAL, the former Liverpool star unsurprisingly selected some Liverpool and Nottingham Forest stars, but surprisingly committed some standout performers in the Reds’ squad for players from Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Carragher chose Alisson in goal, citing the Brazilian’s away performance against PSG in the UEFA Champions League.
In defence, he named Van Dijk, alongside Ola Aina (right-back), Nikola Milenkovi? (centre back) and Antonee Robertson for left back.
In midfield, Carragehr surprisingly snubbed Gravenberch, but selected Alexis Mac Allister, alongside Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
Carragher’s attack is made up of Mohamed Salah and two players linked with a move to Liverpool- Alexander Isak and Matheus Cunha.
