Jamie Carragher has disclosed his favourite Jurgen Klopp moment as the German prepares to bid farewell to Liverpool on Sunday.
An emotional atmosphere is expected at Anfield this Sunday as Klopp manages his final game for Liverpool, with the Reds hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers.
During his tenure on Merseyside, Klopp secured eight trophies, notably including the Champions League, Premier League, and Liverpool’s first-ever Club World Cup title.
This season, Klopp guided Liverpool to clinch the Carabao Cup by defeating Chelsea in the final back in February.
Liverpool are assured of finishing third in the campaign, marking their return to the Champions League.
Revealing his favourite Klopp moment, former Liverpool defender Carragher selected Liverpool’s 1-0 win over arch-rivals Everton during the 2018/19 season.
Divock Origi scored a bizarre 96th-minute goal under sensational circumstances, capitalizing on a significant error by Jordan Pickford to secure a victory for the Reds over Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield.
The goal prompted an ecstatic reaction from Klopp, who sprinted onto the pitch to embrace goalkeeper Alisson, while the fans erupted in jubilation.
However, the outcome was cruel on Everton, who had shown moments of adventurous football throughout the lively encounter.
It marked the fifth Premier League injury-time winner Liverpool have scored against Everton, reaffirming their record of not achieving more against any other side in the Premier League era.
Klopp later apologized to Marco Silva after running onto the pitch in celebration.
“First of all, I have to apologise for my run,” the 56-year-old told the BBC.
“I apologised immediately after to Marco Silva, I didn’t want to be disrespectful.
I think we deserved the three points.”
