Jamie Carragher admits he was 'bored' of the March international break.

The former Liverpool and England defender was joined by Gary Neville on his show, The Overlap, and during a discussion about the recent international fixtures, both expressed their feelings about the break to the domestic season.

"I think it's boring, I'm bored. Is it that exciting international football?" said Carragher.

Neville agreed, explaining the reason behind high-profile pull outs earlier this week including Bukayo Saka, Ben White and Kyle Walker with Kevin de Druyne and Mohamed Salah not selected for their respective nations. Darwin Nunez was another player who pulled out of international duty.

He said: "I must admit, I struggle with this one at this stage of the season, we said there would be a lot of pull outs a few weeks ago because of the time of the season and big games for clubs. At times I think it devalues the games. You end with sort of half a team playing.

"I think when you are in the midst of title run-ins and the Champions League, relegation battles, players and coaches are nervous as hell about getting injuries."

Neville continued claiming Ben White's omission as intriguing. The Arsenal defender has come in for criticism after deciding against making himself available for international duty.

White had left England's camp in Qatar during the last World Cup after reports of a training ground falling out with assistant England boss Steve Holland.

Neville said: "We were in Qatar when he went home, at the time the reason cited for going home was mental health, which meant everyone supported Ben and said, 'We hope he is well.' The news broke internally about the argument he had had in the camp, so we all knew about it. Next thing was a week later, he was pictured on a bike in Dubai with Arsenal at a camp. So it's like hang on, Dubai is only 45 minutes away from Qatar. Something wasn't quite right."

Carragher added: "Ben White's fourth or fifth choice if I'm being totally honest. I think he's done a great job for Arsenal, but he's not better than Trent, Reece James, Kyle Walker or Trippier.

"I was in that position and you are there feeling that there's other people better than you. I don't think it should be made into a huge story... because he's not going to play anyway."
