Jamie Carragher has sent a supportive message to his wife Nicola, who celebrates her birthday today.

The former Liverpool centre back also praised his wife on her marathon efforts, after she completed the Sydney Marathon this weekend.

On Instagram, Carragher wrote: "The marathon girl yesterday is the birthday girl today.



Happy birthday."

A fan of the Carraghers commented: "Happy birthday and Nicola and massive well done.

Jamie and Nicola celebrated two decades of marriage together last month.

Jamie and Nicola tied the knot at Weston Park, a 17th century stately home on the Staffordshire-Shropshire border, on July 1, 2005.

Nicola works in interior design and runs her own company.

According to the footballer's autobiography, Jamie had to ask Nicola to marry him twice after his first proposal went wrong when he got an incorrectly-sized ring and a mis-wrapped present.

Together the couple have two children - son James and daughter Mia.

She has also been cast in the stage production of The Hunger Games, in her biggest role to date.

Mia recorded the moment her parents found out she had landed the role, a clip of the moment was uploaded by Mia, and an emotional Nicola broke down in tears upon learning the exciting news.

Carragher shared a heartfelt message after sharing that his daughter will be taking on the role.
