Jamie Carragher sets two challenges for David Moyes at Everton ahead of Merseyside derby

David Moyes is set to visit Anfield for the second time since he was re-appointed Everton manager at the start of the calendar year.
While the Scotsman has taken part in many exciting Merseyside derbies over the years — including one where an ebullient Luis Suarez dove in front of him, and another recent 2-2 win in the final derby at Goodison Park — he's still waiting for his first win at Anfield.
Longtime Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, an Everton fan as a child, penned an op-ed in The Telegraph decrying that Moyes must do two things to be considered Everton's greatest manager.

In addition to winning silverware with the club, which is without any since the 1995 FA Cup — Moyes didn't capture a major trophy with them during his stint there from 2002-2013; he did help West Ham win the 2023 Conference League title, though — the Scot must win at Anfield, Carragher claims, as he's yet to beat Liverpool at home after 22 tries.
"Until those objectives are met, there will be painful omissions on an impressive Everton CV keeping him in [Howard] Kendall and [Harry] Catterick’s shadow," the Liverpool legend wrote.
Moyes' record at Anfield, which includes trips with Manchester United, Sunderland, and West Ham, is seven draws and 15 defeats.
Moyes' last trip with the Toffees was in April last year, when a goal from the late Diogo Jota was enough to hand the Reds a 1-0 victory.
Jamie Carragher is always the first to admit he was a childhood Everton fan.
This came just two months after the Hammers lost 3-1 at Anfield in the league.
Moyes, an 11-time Premier League Manager of the Month winner, has the Toffees off to a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign, having won twice and drawn in four contests
