Celtic have been dealt another blow in their attempts to add to their strike force this summer, as Jamie Vardy decides his next destination.
Brendan Rodgers has been left frustrated at Celtic’s lack of transfer activity which was blamed for their shock defeat to Kairat Almaty in the Champions League.
Vardy has been a free agent since leaving Leicester City at the end of last season and has had interest from Celtic and Rangers and abroad.
The 38-year-old wants to continue playing at the top level after 13 years at the King Power Stadium, where he cemented himself as a club legend.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg on X [31 August], a deal for Vardy to join Serie A side Cremonese is “done.”
Vardy is expected to arrive in Italy this evening to complete the transfer and reject advances from Celtic and others for his services.

Football Insider Verdict
Rodgers may have a busy final 24 hours of the transfer window after Adam Idah was left out of the squad against Rangers with a move to Swansea expected to be announced shortly.
The move will leave Celtic with only Johnny Kenny and Shin Yamada as natural strikers in Rodgers’ squad.
Kenny and Yamada are yet to prove themselves in the Scottish Premiership, whilst Vardy would have had the goalscoring pedigree to hit the ground running under Rodgers, whom he played under at Leicester.
Winger Yang Hyun-Jun may also leave with Birmingham City have shown interest in the 23-year-old.
The recent addition of Michel-Ange Balikwisha has added to the ranks, but Rodgers could therefore still do with reinforcements if Yang leaves.
