It appears Jarell Quansah will be a Bayer Leverkusen player this season, judging by the latest reports.

After enjoying a breakout 2023–24 campaign under Jurgen Klopp, the defender struggled for form last season.

His total appearances dropped from 31 to 25 across all competitions, and his number of starts fell to 13, fewer than the 17 league starts he managed the previous year.

This shift coincided with Arne Slot’s preference for the established central defensive pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

Bayer Leverkusen have stepped up their efforts to secure the services of Quansah this week.

Leverkusen’s renewed interest comes amid their defensive overhaul following the departure of Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old and Leverkusen have verbally agreed on personal terms.

“Jarell Quansah has verbally agreed personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen,” the journalist wrote.

“Bayer and Liverpool are closing in on permanent deal, understand it will be worth £30m plus add-ons for the defender.
