Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah was spotted arriving at Bayer Leverkusen on Monday to complete this medical ahead of his move to the Bundesliga side.

German outlet Bild snapped a picture of the defender checking in at 8:23 am local time before he goes through his medical checks.

Assuming that progresses as expected, the 22-year-old will sign for Leverkusen and become the club’s record signing.

Quansah flew to Germany on the back of England Under-21’s triumph in Slovakia.

The Liverpool youth graduate played every minute of England’s campaign, unlike at club level this season, where he fell down the pecking order under Arne Slot.

Quansah was selected to start the first Premier League match of the season but was replaced after 45 minutes in the win over Ipswich Town.

He didn’t start another league match until December, but that was only due to a defensive crisis at right-back, with Quansah deployed in an unorthodox full-back position.

His next league starts didn’t come until after Liverpool won the title, with Quansah selected to face Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.

.

Quansah’s form did improve in the latter months of the season, earning praise from Slot on several occasions, but the youngster was firmly established as the Dutchman’s fourth choice behind Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.

The latter’s injury record afforded Quansah additional game time

Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah have been three high-profile departures, with Quansah signed as the latter’s direct replacement.

Erik ten Hag has also been appointed head coach this summer, taking over from Xabi Alonso, who took over at Real Madrid.

Bild reports Malik Tillman and Christian Kofane are expected to sign for Leverkusen in the coming days, in addition to Mark Flekken and Ibrahim Maza, who have joined this summer.

Quansah’s move will have a buyback clause, which Bild reports is at least €60M ($70M/£51M), and the defender will sign a five-year contract at Leverkusen.
