Ex-Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah showed his class after dedicating a goal celebration to Diogo Jota.

The England Under-21s international joined Bundesliga outfit this summer in a deal worth up to £35m, signing a five-year contract with Erik ten Hag's side.

He rose highest from Alejandro Grimaldo's cross to beat Oliver Baumann and then wheeled away, before he paid tribute to Jota by emulating his iconic Playstation celebration.

Quansah had joined Leverkusen a day before Portuguese international, Jota, tragically lost his life - alongside his brother Andre Silva - in a car crash at the beginning of June.

Jota had been driving to catch a ferry back to the United Kingdom to return for pre-season.

The footballing world came together to pay their respects to the Liverpool striker and continues to.

Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all paid tribute to their teammate during their 4-2 win over AFC Bournemouth on the opening day of the Premier League last weekend.

Luis Diaz, who followed Quansah to the Bundesliga signing for champions Bayern Munich, copied Jota's gaming celebration during their German Super Cup triumph over VfB Stuttgart.

Speaking to Sport BILD last month, Quansah said he was left "overwhelmed with emotion" after the news of his teammates passing.

"When the news came, I was overwhelmed with emotion," he said.

"It's so tragic for his family and everyone close to him.

"Losing a friend is incredibly painful.

"I knew him as a great person, a great family man, and a great footballer - and it's just incredibly sad."
