Jarell Quansah has emerged as one of the standout revelations and feel-good stories of Liverpool’s season.
Heading into the campaign, few Reds fans were familiar with the 21-year-old, let alone expecting him to assume such a pivotal role.
Last season, Quansah was plying his trade for League One outfit Bristol Rovers under the management of Joey Barton.
However, he now stands as a fully-fledged member of Liverpool’s squad contributing significantly to a trophy-winning season.
Quansah’s Liverpool debut was a baptism by fire, thrust into action as a substitute during the intense clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park in August last year.
Facing the daunting task of filling in for the dismissed Virgil van Dijk in a hostile environment, the 21-year-old rose to the occasion admirably.
His stellar performance was evident as he helped navigate Liverpool to an impressive 2-1 victory, with Darwin Nunez sealing the win with a brace.
Since then, the 21-year-old has consistently featured for Jurgen Klopp.
It is now no longer a surprise to see the Liverpool academy start big games domestically or aboard, as evidenced by starting against Tottenham Hotspur.
And it seems his efforts are to be rewarded with a new contract imminently.
Jarell Quansah ‘in line’ for new deal
The Mirror have reported that the 21-year-old is ‘in line’ for a ‘lucrative’ new long-term contract at the end of the campaign.
Quansah only signed a new deal at the end of last season, but of course his stature within the game has risen significantly since then.
Liverpool are anticipated to initiate discussions with the agency representing the England U21 international regarding potential contract renewal in the upcoming weeks.
Nevertheless, this decision is not expecting to alter the club’s intentions in the summer transfer window.
According to the Mirror, the Reds as remain committed to securing a new left-footed center-back to reinforce Slot’s defensive lineup.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho is name frequently linked with Liverpool.
Additionally, the Reds could also opt to reignite their interest in Chelsea’s Levi Colwill – who was looked at by the club last summer.
