West Ham endured a tough 2024/25 campaign, leading to Graham Potter replacing Julen Lopetegui midway through the season.

Now, the former Chelsea boss is overseeing a significant summer rebuild.

The Hammers have been active in the market, with West Ham securing deals for Callum Wilson, Kyle Walker-Peters and El Hadji Malick Diouf.

But alongside the new arrivals, there have been plenty of changes within the squad.

Key figures such as Lukasz Fabianski, Vladimir Coufal and Mohammed Kudus have all departed West Ham this summer, as Potter looks to reshape the squad ahead of the new season.

As the team returned to East London following their pre-season tour of the United States, it was confirmed that one player would be leaving the side on a temporary basis, sparking a wave of reactions from his teammates online.

West Ham confirmed on 7 August that young defender Kaelan Casey has joined Swansea City on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

Several of his teammates were quick to react to the news, with Jarrod Bowen, Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman all liking the announcement on social media.

The 20-year-old heads to the Championship in search of valuable first-team experience, having featured regularly in West Ham’s pre-season tour.

He also started in their 2-1 win over Everton.

Casey has been a standout performer at academy level, helping West Ham win a domestic double during the 2022/23 campaign and scoring in the FA Youth Cup final against Arsenal.

Last season, the promising centre-back was named on the bench eight times in the Premier League and also captained the U21s.

With Swansea currently short on defensive options, Casey is expected to be given the opportunity for regular minutes in the Championship.

Fernandes has been linked to West Ham.

While several players have left the club this summer, West Ham’s recruitment drive is far from over.

Football Insider revealed the Hammers are plotting a late-window move for Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

It’s believed the 21-year-old is keen on a return to the Premier League, and with Potter still in the market for midfield reinforcements, the Saints star is a key name on their shortlist.

However, competition is growing, with Aston Villa and Leeds United also showing interest in Fernandes, and if the Hammers are serious about securing his signature, they may need to act quickly.
