Simon Jordan has expressed his doubts over the expected season-long loan between Everton and Man City for Jack Grealish just days before the new season.

After a relatively quiet transfer window for Everton, the club is ramping up their activity just before the 2025-26 Premier League campaign begins.

Adding to Thierno Barry from Villareal and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, the Toffees have agreed a deal to bring in Grealish despite his enormous wages.

His signing has also suggested that Everton will cool their interest in Tyler Dibling after having numerous bids rejected for the Southampton teenager.

Whilst many have seen the prospective move as a positive one for the England international, some pundits feel this could be a temporary deal which may backfire.

Speaking on talkSPORT (11 August), former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan was adamant that the deal for the ex-Aston Villa midfielder was a bad decision that wouldn’t play out well for either party.

He said: “In this instance, Jack Grealish, it’s not his fault he’s a £100million price tag.

“It’s interesting to see the way David [Moyes] plays because he doesn’t feel like a ‘Moyesy’ player to me in any shape or form.

“For Jack Grealish he needs to play.

I assumed he’d go to Napoli or somewhere like that rather than go to an Everton side that…still have a long way away from going back to being a very competitive side in the Premier League that’s looking upwards rather than downwards.

“I think there is jeopardy all over, there’s a lot of money involved with the players wages and very rarely do these work.

I feel this is a deal that could benefit neither one of them.”

Despite some pundits and fans not believing the deal to join the Toffees will pay off are likely to be surprised come the end of next season in my opinion.

The 29-year-old arrives at a critical point in his career where he must raise his game to earn back the respect of Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel for England.

The number 10 will be motivated to hit the ground running upon arriving at Goodison Park and his work ethic will endear him with the fans.

Moreover, his new manager Moyes has an excellent track record when it comes to building teams around talismen.

At West Ham, Jarrod Bowen improved enormously under the Scotsman’s guidance and I suspect the former Man United boss will do the same for Grealish.

The Blues lack a significant creative spark which could benefit the prospects of Barry or Beto up top as well as bringing in attacking midfielders to score more goals next year.
