Liverpool lost against Brighton on Monday evening as they ticked off another game towards the end of the season.

90 minutes is now all that stands between the Reds and their Premier League trophy lift at Anfield next week.

In the meantime, much of the focus at Liverpool has shifted towards the transfer market.

There may still be matches to play, but the Reds are already moving with intent ahead of next season.

The first addition of the summer looks set to be Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

Having completed his medical across Sunday and Monday, Frimpong is on the verge of becoming a Liverpool player.

And with Liverpool supporters awaiting an official announcement that they’ve secured themselves a new player, Frimpong posting some ‘exciting’ news on social media during the Reds’ game against Brighton.

For a while it had felt as though an announcement of Frimpong’s arrival may in fact come on Monday.

However, Liverpool’s game at Brighton was ultimately the biggest story of the day for the red half of Merseyside.

Nevertheless, Frimpong still ensured he’d be in the post-game headlines as he shared a message on X to announce a new initiative with New Balance.

“I’ve got something exciting for you!” teased the Dutch defender.

“With my foundation, Pathways, we’ve created a unique event that combines football and career opportunities with some help from New Balance.”

With June dates announced in Cologne, Amsterdam, Manchester and Accra, Frimpong sounds like he’ll be a busy bee ahead of his expected link-up with Liverpool in pre-season.

While Liverpool were falling to defeat at Brighton, there was another update on Frimpong’s imminent move to Anfield.

Journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed that the 24-year-old had indeed passed his medical towards the end of the match.

“Jeremie Frimpong has now passed his Liverpool medical,” said Jacobs.

Things may not be going particularly well for Liverpool at the moment on the pitch, but that hardly matters in the long run.

The likes of Frimpong arriving are hopefully more a sign of things to come as they begin their title defence in 2025/26.
