Liverpool’s summer signing Jeremie Frimpong may have dropped a subtle hint that his former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz could be on his way to Anfield.
The Reds secured the Dutch defender last month as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is bound for Real Madrid.
Frimpong arrives after more than four years in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen, where he won a league title, a German Super Cup and a German Cup.
There is hope that Wirtz will follow him to England this summer, with Liverpool reportedly expected to break the British transfer record to land the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.
According to the Echo’s latest understanding, negotiations with Leverkusen are ongoing, and any suggestion that a deal has already been struck is considered premature.

However, Frimpong may already be dreaming of his close friend and Leverkusen teammate Wirtz joining him at Liverpool.
The 24-year-old shared a reel from the official Champions League Instagram account, looking back on their famous goal celebration after Frimpong assisted Wirtz in a 4-0 win over Feyenoord in the competition last September.
Liverpool fans will be hoping to see the duo reunited at Anfield next season, with the pair having produced 48 goal contributions across all competitions for Leverkusen last term.
Wirtz accounted for 31 of those, registering 16 goals and 15 assists.

Frimpong arrives at Liverpool ready to compete with Conor Bradley for the starting right-back role.
His versatility is also seen as a major asset, with the ability to push further forward and operate effectively on the right wing.
If a deal for Wirtz is completed, Arne Slot will receive a significant boost to his attacking midfield options.
