New Liverpool signing Jeremie Frimpong has already revealed his nickname for Florian Wirtz ahead of a potential move to Anfield.

The Reds have already signed Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and are also hoping to wrap up a deal for the Germany international.

Liverpool remain in talks with Leverkusen over a deal to bring Wirtz to Anfield, having recently submitted a bid worth a total of £113million.



The Bundesliga outfit, though, are thought to value the playmaker at a fee closer to £126million, as negotiations over a deal continue.

Both Frimpong and Wirtz enjoyed a successful spell at Leverkusen together, where the pair became good friends on and off the pitch.

Frimpong recently recalled when Wirtz scored a hat-trick for Leverkusen in a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen in April 2024, a victory that secured the Bundesliga title.

The new Liverpool signing also used the nickname he has for Wirtz.

"Flo's just scored and then everyone's just like 'Nooo, we've won the league,'" said Frimpong in an interview with Rising Ballers back in January.

"The match didn't finish, [but] the fans just came onto the pitch.

"So I think it got to the 90th minute, but there was added time.

I think Flo scored and then the fans just came [onto the pitch].

"Obviously, Flo tried to calm them down [but] they're not listening.

"Then eventually it started again, but then they couldn't wait again, and they just came [onto the pitch].

"The referee was like, 'allow it', and then we just all won the league."

Despite being given the nickname 'Flo' by Frimpong and his Leverkusen teammates, Wirtz himself has previously explained why his family is not a fan of the name.

“My family just called me Flori,” said Wirtz on Bundesliga's TikTok account earlier this year.
