If there is one way to quieten the ongoing narrative surrounding the reaction to Trent Alexander's Arnold decision to leave Liverpool, then it would be immediately to sign his replacement.
And if reports are to be believed, that could well be happening.
Alexander-Arnold announced last week that he would be leaving Liverpool after 20 years.
The right-back, who joined his boyhood club as a six-year-old, then made his first appearances for the Reds since he confirmed his imminent departure.
Stepping off the bench in the table-topping clash with Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday, Alexander-Arnold received boos when he was introduced and then further jeers when he touched the ball.

The backlash has led to a debate over whether the supporters who did make their displeasure known were right or wrong.
But what is correct is that no player is bigger than the club, even one as good as Alexander-Arnold, and the job head coach Arne Slot, sporting director Richard Hughes and the recruitment team face now is finding the 26-year-old's replacement.
And it appears they could have found one with Kicker, Sky Sports Germany and Fabrizio Romano suggesting that Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen and Netherlands right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

The 24-year-old, who started his career with Manchester City before spending two seasons with Celtic, has just come off the back of another impressive campaign for Leverkusen.
While a different player to Alexander-Arnold, he is a very exciting one who has scored 28 goals in the past three seasons for the Bundesliga side.
But it appears his time at Leverkusen is coming to an end.
With a release cause of €40m, Frimpong looks set to follow Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso out of the BayArena.
Alonso is poised to take charge of his former club Real Madrid - where he will link up with Alexander-Arnold - and after his exit from Leverkusen was announced, Frimpong paid tribute to his Spanish manager on Instagram.
Sharing a picture of the two of them together, the Dutchman wrote: "Lived it.
The message read: "We working," followed by hour glass and rock climbing emojis.
The ECHO had previously reported that should the Reds pursue a new right-back, Frimpong would be a player of interest, particularly given his release clause of around £30m that can be triggered this summer.

The player himself has spoken warmly about Liverpool in the past.
"Liverpool is a great club with history,” Frimpong told Ziggo Sport in February 2024.
Who knows what the future will bring."
The Reds were last month crowned Premier League champions.
