Liverpool supporters are set for a summer of excitement after being crowned as Premier League champions.

The Reds have had a superb season and are already gearing up to defend their status as the best team in the land.

With the curtain still yet to come down on the 2024/25 season, Liverpool have moved quickly to get their first summer signing in place.

Jeremie Frimpong will undergo a medical on Monday as he prepares to become Liverpool’s answer to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit.

Although Conor Bradley will reportedly be backed as Arne Slot’s first choice right-back, the arrival of Frimpong will give the Liverpool head coach another option in defence and in attack.

And as the Netherlands international looks ahead to his new career at Anfield, it is already clear which squad number he will select.

Although some may have reservations over his ability as a defender, Frimpong is still an incredibly exciting addition for Slot.

The Bayer Leverkusen man has been one of the most dangerous right-backs in Europe over the past two years and also seems like a big personality.

As he prepares to join Liverpool, there are several squad numbers available to him.

None of the traditional defensive numbers are there, with No.

6 is available, but would seem like an unlikely choice for Frimpong.

Numbers 12, 15 or 16 would actually feel like better fits for the Dutchman, but all the signs would point to him rejecting those as well.

Instead, it seems fairly certain that Frimpong will choose to wear his current number at Leverkusen: number 30.

Frimpong has worn the number ever since becoming a regular at Celtic in 2019/20.

Having continued that tradition at Leverkusen over the past four-and-a-half years, we see no reason why he won’t keep it going at Anfield.

As Warner, Gudnason and Medjani never even played a competitive match for Liverpool and Itandje, Zenden and Suso played just 47 games with the number on their back, it feels safe to say that Frimpong can make it his own.
