New Liverpool right-back Jeremie Frimpong has named his favorite full-back of all time - and he’s already getting Reds fans onside with an early snub for Gary Neville.

Frimpong is of course one of five new signings made by Liverpool this summer, having made the move to Anfield along with former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz.

Milos Kerkez has also joined the Reds from Bournemouth, while the goalkeeping department has undergone an overhaul, with Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman arriving alongside Giorgi Mamardashvili after a deal was reached for the former Valencia stopper last summer.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold having departed for Real Madrid, Frimpong will now battle it out with Conor Bradley for the right-back slot next season as Liverpool looks to defend its Premier League title, and potentially add more silverware in the process.

Ahead of meeting up with his new teammates for the first time next week, Frimpong was asked by GOAL to name his favorite full-back out of a host of legendary players in a knockout-style tournament.

The first round of match-ups saw Brazilian greats Roberto Carlos and Cafu pitted against each other, while Ashley Cole faced Marcelo, Paolo Maldini came up against Javier Zanetti, and Philipp Lahm was drawn against Neville.

Frimpong picked Cafu, Mercelo, Maldini and Lahm to go through - Liverpool fans will no doubt enjoy seeing former Manchester United captain Neville being cast aside immediately.

He would then go on to pick Cafu over Marcelo, and Maldini over Lahm.

In his final choice, it was Cafu who won over Maldini, with Frimpong not even hesitating to pick the former AC Milan and Brazil great.

Frimpong could make his first appearance for Liverpool later this month, with the Reds set to get their pre-season preparations underway against Championship side Preston on July 13.
