Jeremie Frimpong has named two of the club’s current stars among the top four best Liverpool players in history.

Frimpong officially joined Liverpool last month, becoming the Reds’ first summer signing and a direct replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Frimpong’s move follows a series of exclusive revelations from DaveOCKOP, who was the first to reveal the presence of a release clause in the former Bayer Leverkusen man’s contract.

Liverpool triggered his €35 million (£29.5 million) release clause, bypassing protracted negotiations with Leverkusen.

Frimpong’s signing signals the start of a transformative summer for Liverpool, who have signed Florian Wirtz for a British record deal and are also closing in on Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez (estimated £45 million)

Frimpong revealed his pride at signing for Liverpool.

“For me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, just get this done’, [speaking to] my agents: ‘Just get this done.,” he told the club’s official website at his unveiling.

“Liverpool fans, I’m going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together.

“I’m just excited to be here.

Thank you guys for accepting me, and I won’t let you guys down, and I’ll give you the energy that you guys want.”

He also added that he had spoken to Arne Slot about the transfer:

“I spoke to the manager a few times,” he said.

“He sounds very positive.

He says I can bring a lot of energy and my qualities, my speed.

“Especially when a manager is talking positively about you, it gives you very good confidence that he believes in you.

Even when I was at the national team, some of the Feyenoord boys would tell me about him and be like, ‘He’s the best coach I’ve ever had.’ Things like this.”

Recently speaking about the players he considers the best in Liverpool history, the Dutchman chose two of his soon-to-be teammates at the club.

Asked to name his top four players, Frimpong chose Mohamed Salah, Steven Gerrard, Virgil van Dijk and Kenny Dalglish in his ‘Mount Rushmore’ of Liverpool players.
