Jeremie Frimpong has been officially confirmed as a Liverpool player by the club this Friday.

This follows after DaveOCKOP exclusively revealed early on Friday morning that the now former Bayer Leverkusen player would be in Liverpool colours today.

Frimpong arrived on Merseyside earlier this week to finalize the move, having already passed his medical and agreed to personal terms.

Liverpool triggered his €35 million (£29.5 million) release clause, bypassing protracted negotiations with Leverkusen.

Frimpong’s signing signals the start of a transformative summer for Liverpool, who are also closing in on Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez (estimated £45 million) and Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz (estimated £135 million).

Speaking to the club media, he said of the transfer:

“For me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, just get this done’, [speaking to] my agents: ‘Just get this done.’

“Liverpool fans, I’m going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together.”

“I’m just excited to be here.

The 24-year-old will compete with Conor Bradley for the right-back spot.

Bradley, who signed a new four-year deal in May, will no doubt be ready to elevate his game as he showed when competing with Alexander-Arnold.

Securing Frimpong early allows Liverpool to allocate resources to other targets that will surely be needed at Anfield as part of Arne Slot’s overhaul.
