Jeremie Frimpong has finally arrived at Anfield as Liverpool announced the signing of the right-back from Bayer Leverkusen on Friday.

Frimpong signed a five-year deal with Liverpool after the club triggered his €35 million release clause to bring him to England this summer.

The situation wasn’t easy for the Merseyside club, letting go of their own academy boy after 20 years of service.

Trent was also seen quite emotional during his final moments at the club.

Liverpool announced the signing of Frimpong shortly after Trent’s move to Real Madrid was made official on Friday.

The Dutch right-back has a similar playing style to Trent, and their numbers from the 2024/25 season are also quite close.

The Dutch right-back registered 5 assists in 33 Bundesliga matches, while Trent recorded 6 assists in 32 Premier League games.

Arne Slot personally wanted Frimpong at Liverpool, and many believe the Reds’ boss played a major role in convincing the player to join the club this summer.

After being officially unveiled as Liverpool’s first signing of the summer, Frimpong shared his thoughts on the Dutch manager.

“I’m really excited [to work with Arne Slot].

Even when I was at [the] national team, some of the Feyenoord boys would tell me about him and be like, ‘He’s the best coach I’ve ever had.’ Things like this.”

These statements highlight Slot’s influence in getting the deal done — and his presence in the Netherlands national setup.

The right-back also added, “So, I’ve always heard good things about the coach.

Now he’s going to be my coach, so I’m excited for that.”
