Liverpool have known for a while now that they would have to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back.
It was only confirmed last week that Trent would be leaving Liverpool when his contract expires in the summer.
However, it’s been an open secret for a long time now, with the Real Madrid rumours rumbling for nearly two years.
Therefore the Reds have had to form a succession plan for when the 26-year-old moves on at the end of June.

While Conor Bradley has proved to be a very able deputy, he’s just 21 years old and there’s clearly a need for competition in the position.
So it’s no surprise to see Liverpool linked with moves for right-backs as the summer transfer window rapidly approaches.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has emerged as a very real target for the Reds, with increasing speculation over his future in the Bundesliga.
Jeremie Frimpong’s agent Jeffrey Lemmert set tongues wagging with an Instagram story he posted yesterday.

Posting a picture of a dual carriageway with the location set to Manchester, he captioned it with ‘We working’ and an hourglass emoji.
The timing of the post only added fuel to the fire, with it coming soon after reports of Frimpong being ‘in advanced talks’ with Liverpool over a transfer.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg announced that the Reds are ‘seriously pursuing’ the Dutch right back, with ‘advanced talks’ having already taken place.
The 24-year-old was a crucial member of Leverkusen’s incredible unbeaten season last year, and has a release clause set at around £29m-£33m.
With Xabi Alonso leaving Leverkusen to join Real Madrid, it’s clear why the move would appeal to Frimpong – who is keen to leave the Bundesliga club in the summer.
His agent is clearly not interested in keeping a low profile either, with fans excited by the potential transfer.
Liverpool fans have wasted no time in making their feelings known over the possibility of Jeremie Frimpong moving to the club.
One Red hopes it’s a sign of things to come: “Would be nice to get early signings done so we can have a good pre-season and not be left wondering what the plan is.”
Another fan listed the reasons to be excited for the move: “Fills the right side and is home grown for 40m euro.
Frimpong can also play RW.”
It’s even curing this Red’s heartbreak: “This would make the PAIN of watching TAA stab us in the back almost go away!”
Another outlined what other moves he’d like to see the club make: “Nice to have some competition for Conor, I’d like to see us pursue a serious striker option next.
