Liverpool fans will be beginning the week with a big smile on their faces after their 4-2 win over Tottenham.

What has happened in recent weeks has gone and Liverpool can’t change that now.

All the attention should be on to ensure that Jurgen Klopp leaves on a high and with the team doing what they did best under his stewardship and that’s scoring goals for fun.

That was proven at Anfield on Sunday when Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott entertained the home crowd.

There is no doubt that Elliott scored the best goal of the game after his wonder strike from outside of the box.

The 21-year-old is one of the youngest players at the club, and at one point in his career, he was the youngest player in Premier League history.

That kid from Fulham who wanted to play at the top level is now proving why Liverpool brought him to Merseyside.

Jermain Defoe thinks Elliott is a ‘technically gifted footballer’ and someone who is still trying to impress, as he told Premier League Productions (05/05/24 at 6:50 pm).

The former striker added that he would like to see the youngster score more goals as he currently has three to his name.

“That’s what dreams are made of,” said Defoe on Elliott scoring in front of the Kop.

For some reason, even in training, you feel like you are on trial.

“For a goal like that, I believe he can score a lot more.

Perhaps, at this stage, it’s a little too early to be calling up Elliott.

In truth, with 90 minutes only completed four times in the Premier League this season, that has probably decreased his chances of earning that ticket to Germany.

But in these coming years, and ahead of the 2026 World Cup, you feel Elliott has to be one of the players who will be repping England’s senior side because it’s a case of when he earns that maiden call, not if.
