Alexander Isak’s signing guarantees an increased end product for Arne Slot’s side.

Liverpool’s new-look side was completed when the Reds broke the British record transfer fee to sign Swedish international and Newcastle United player Isak for £125 million after a summer for the ages.

The move excited fans, especially with the struggles the side had with Darwin Nunez not being able to find his goal-scoring boots consistently, despite his hard work across the pitch.

While Michail Antonio thinks there is already one problem with the Swede’s move because of Hugo Ekitike’s electric start to life at Anfield, there is no doubt that Slot has built a team centred on competition and rotation.

These decisions in the long term could make them one of the most talented and versatile sides in the league, which is needed when the opposition is so fierce.

As the new No.

9 focuses on getting his first start in the side, he will already be looking forward to earning his first Premier League Golden Boot award because of his natural quality in front of goal.

Last season for the Magpies, he scored 23 goals in 34 appearances but was beaten in the race for the award by Mohamed Salah in another one of his record-breaking seasons.

With his competition now becoming his teammate, he will now hope to beat Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in this season’s race after netting one more goal than the Norwegian previously.

Before he made his arrival on Merseyside, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink had given his verdict on who he believed was the more natural finisher out of the two forwards.

Speaking to The Obi One Podcast in July, the former Chelsea star was convinced that Newcastle’s former striker was vastly different to Haaland in situations.

Hasselbaink said: “Isak (is a) natural finisher.

“Haaland is a one-touch finisher.

If you look at the goals that he scores, it’s unbelievable.

He doesn’t score really a lot of goals outside of box… But his movement in the box is that he smells where he needs to be.

He anticipates and that is amazing.

“But one vs one, if you go for one v one and you’re running at a goal and you have Isak running at you, he finds the corners.

If you see Haaland sometimes when he has three, four touches and then finish, it’s not always as clean as when he has a one-touch finish.”

This will be seen as a positive sign for fans who are expecting big things from a forward who is a constant goal threat.

However, he is not only a goal-scoring machine, but his general creativity is also a key aspect of his game, and it will be a huge asset to Liverpool.

He ended last season with six assists from his position, but more interestingly, he ranked top above all strikers last season for chances created (41).

It shows a willingness to help teammates and provide more for the team than just goals, which is incredibly exciting given the talent Slot has brought in and kept on.
