Liverpool FC may have found out more about Joao Pedro and his temperament this week amid reports the Anfield club could make a move for the striker this summer.

The Telegraph have already linked the Brazil international to the club, although Arsenal and Chelsea are also believed to be interested.

Pedro’s versatility – capable of playing as a centre-forward, second striker, or winger – would be a quality valued highly at Anfield, and his 10 goals and seven assists in 30 appearances this season has solidified his status as a top Premier League prospect.

Brighton, however, are poised to demand a fee exceeding £60 million for the striker, whom they signed for £30 million in 2023.

Pedro’s price could reach £70 million given his contract runs until 2028 and Brighton’s reputation as tough negotiators.

But for the Reds, they may have found out more about the Brazilian’s temperament in a team environment.

Pedro’s anticipated return to the match-day squad vs Liverpool was scrapped following a heated confrontation with defender Jan Paul van Hecke during training.

The incident occurred ahead of Brighton’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on May 10, which Pedro missed due to suspension.

While van Hecke started against both Wolves and Liverpool, Pedro was conspicuously absent, with manager Fabian Hurzeler citing “private reasons”.

Reports, however, revealed the clash stemmed from a disagreement during a tactical drill, though specific details remain undisclosed.

The Athletic reported that van Hecke’s continued involvement in matches -compared to Pedro’s exclusion – suggests the Brazilian bore greater responsibility for the incident.

This marks the third time this season Pedro has missed a fixture against Liverpool, having been injured for their previous two meetings,

The altercation adds to growing concerns about Pedro’s temperament.

The striker has already been accused of violent conduct after elbowing Brentford’s Yehor Yarmolyuk in April, and he escaped punishment for a reckless challenge on Ipswich Town goalkeeper Christian Walton earlier this season.
