The English defender is now 28 years old, but he joined the Reds as a teenager, and has spent the last decade with the club after moving from Charlton Athletic.
He was signed under manager Brendan Rogers in 2015 and has since lasted the entirety of Jurgen Klopp’s reign and is now under the tutelage of Arne Slot.
As a summer of significant change continues to occur at Liverpool, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will oversee a last minute departure of Joe Gomez.
Most of that will depend on any potential deal for Liverpool target for Marc Guehi.
If the Reds can secure the signing of the Crystal Palace captain, who they submitted a bid for yesterday, it is much more likely that Joe Gomez will be allowed to leave.
However, Liverpool have their doubts about any potential exit due to Gomez’s versatility and leadership within the group.
He is a man that now knows the club inside and out, and whilst he is a great help to those settling in on Merseyside, his versatility also makes him a great squad option as he can be deployed across the back-line.
With that being said, Lewis Steele has confirmed that Joe Gomez would not say no to a move away from Liverpool this summer, after the news broke earlier today of a bid arriving from AC Milan for Joe Gomez.
His post on X reads:
“Sources in Italy saying Joe Gomez would be ‘open’ to the move.
As we know he explored his options last summer, too?
But remains the case that without Marc Guehi arriving, would be very surprised if he leaves
One to watch.”
One to watch indeed, as Joe Gomez’s long stint at the club could finally reach a conclusion if a deal for Marc Guehi is agreed by the Reds with Crystal Palace.
