AC Milan was keen on signing Joe Gomez ahead of the transfer window closing later today, but time has apparently run out for a deal to be done.

Sky Sports in Italy says that the amount of things that need to happen over the next few hours to facilitate a move to San Siro for Gomez, means that the deal is off.

Gomez's departure was always going to be dependent on Liverpool signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, and considering that transfer is not yet guaranteed to take place, Liverpool refused to authorize Gomez's exit.
