PSV Eindhoven attacker Johan Bakayoko has once again been mentioned alongside Liverpool in the latest reports from Belgium.

Bakayoko has enjoyed an excellent season with PSV, and won the Eredivisie with this season – a campaign in which he played starred in.

The Belgian international has made 46 appearances across all competitions, impressing with 14 goals and 14 assists each.

This highlights that he is creative but also more than capable of finishing chances off himself, something the Reds lacked in recent weeks.

The 21-year-old has been a big reason why PSV won the Eredivisie title this season, and by such a big margin as well.

The Eindhoven side were crowned champions on Sunday at the expense of Arne Slot’s Feyenoord – who are nine points behind PSV who were able to wrap up the title with two games to spare.

Previous links with Johan Bakayoko

Bakayoko was a player heavily linked with Liverpool in the summer transfer window, especially when there was doubts about Mohamed Salah.

A modern winger, the Belgian is equally adept at cutting in an unleashing a shot on goal as he is running to the byline and delivering a cross.

He has a compact frame that allows him to keep tackles at bay but also has quick feet that all wingers need at the top level of play.

It is believed that LFC are ‘admirers’ of Johan Bakayoko and see him as potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.

Furthermore, Jurgen Klopp and co?

are reportedly ‘impressed’ with his Champions League showings this season.

Bakayoko had 4 assists in 4 games during PSV’s Champions League qualification run, and another two goal contributions in the group stage.

Fresh reports

Belgian outlet HLN has reported that both Liverpool and Arsenal have Bakayoko on their ‘radar’ ahead of the summer transfer window.

They claim that the number of interested clubs are ‘continuously increasing’ in light of his performances season.

In terms of his transfer fee, it is estimated that he could cost 40 million euros.

However, it is believed that PSV want to eclipse the fee of 50 million euros Liverpool played for Cody Gakpo in January 2023.

Former Dutch international and manager Aad de Mos suggests that the Dutch club will want a big fee for their star player:

“PSV will ask a high price for Bakayoko, because he’s an excpetional striker.”

“Where his ceiling is, remains to be seen, he can prove that at Paris SG or Manchester City.”
