John Heitinga is on the verge of departing Liverpool.

Heitinga joined Liverpool in July 2024 as part of Arne Slot’s backroom staff, having been an assistant to David Moyes at West Ham before transitioning to Merseyside.

Now ultra-reliable Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf has revealed that Heitinga has agreed a deal to become the new Ajax coach:

“Marcel Keizer (56) and John Heitinga (41) reached an agreement with Ajax on Friday afternoon.

“The new coaching duo that succeeds Francesco Farioli will sign a contract in the Johan Cruijff ArenA until the summer of 2027, as soon as the verbal agreements have been put on paper by the lawyers.”
