Then, for Liverpool, there was the very public apology in front of cameras in an office at Fenway Park in Boston earlier this year, where Henry addressed Reds fans to say sorry for his part in dragging Liverpool into the doomed idea of the European Super League, an idea that unravelled just 48 hours on from its presentation to the world.

Whether it be on this side of the Atlantic or over in the US, it has long been the case for both the Fenway Sports Group owned Boston Red Sox and Liverpool that the dialogue from ownership comes from other senior members of the organisation and not from Henry, FSG's principal owner.

But how Liverpool fans would love the chance to ask some questions of Henry and FSG.

John W Henry is a man who notoriously doesn't like to be front and centre when it comes to the media.

Henry has been known for being a little too candid stateside when addressing the media, something that has previously opened up a can of worms for FSG with the Red Sox, and his appearances in front of the media have largely been, at least over the past two years or so, confined to firefighting major moments for their sporting operations.

And they wanted answers from the top.

Not all questions would elicit a candid response, but with so many issues burning among Liverpool fans it would be welcome to get the chance to at least put them to FSG.
