John Terry shares instant reaction to Joao Pedro's Chelsea announcement

Thu 4 September 2025 16:43, UK

Chelsea players were quick to respond to an update regarding Joao Pedro following an announcement from the club.

The Brazil forward has enjoyed a flying start to life in West London, directly contributing to four goals in his first three Premier League matches.

Since arriving from Brighton in June, Pedro has impressed for Chelsea, playing a pivotal role in their Club World Cup triumph and quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the side already.

Despite the club also bringing in Liam Delap, the Brazil international has been the preferred option for Enzo Maresca, and will likely now lead the line with the Englishman’s latest injury.

His performances have been recognised by his national team as Pedro has been called up to Brazil’s squad, while at club level, his early-season performances have also been rewarded in Chelsea’s latest announcement.

Chelsea have announced on Instagram on 4 September that Pedro has been nominated as the Premier League’s player of the month.

His teammates shared support for the announcement, with Moises Caicedo, Andrey Santos and Chelsea legend John Terry all liking the post.

The Brazilian is alongside the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Erling Haaland, Hugo Ekitike and Jack Grealish for the first award this month.

He joined in a £60 million deal and has hit the ground running immediately at Stamford Bridge.

His top form followed an impressive season at Brighton, where he was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Season.

Pedro had turned down an offer from Newcastle to wait for Chelsea’s approach following their earlier interest earlier in the year, proving a blow to the Magpies.

With Delap’s latest injury, Marc Guiu was recalled from his loan at Sunderland, and the young Spaniard will now look to break into the Chelsea first-team

With Nicolas Jackson, Joao Felix and Christoper Nkunku also leaving Chelsea, Guiu and Pedro are the current primary options for the striker position.

Maresca has frequently deployed both Delap and Pedro in the frontline, which could present the opportunity Guiu has been waiting for since joining West London – if given the chance to impress.
