It's not often that a footballer will move between Everton and Liverpool, but Gary Ablett was a rare exception.
Six years after that triumph at Wembley, he would win the cup for a second time - this time with Everton, helping shut out Manchester United's attack in a famous 1-0 win.
Neither side was able to claim a league title in the early years of the Premier League, with Everton narrowly avoiding relegation in 1994 and flirting with the drop the following season before Joe Royle kept them up and delivered a trophy.
“There is nothing major in my career I wish I had done differently," the England B international, who died in 2012, wrote in his autobiography.

"Joining Everton (from Liverpool) was a controversial decision at the time and the stick I took was horrendous but it paid off for me.
It is written down in the history books: Gary Ablett, the only player to claim FA Cup winners medals with both Liverpool and Everton.”
Since Ablett's move, just seven male footballers have been on the books of both Everton and Liverpool.
Of those, only two moved directly between the two clubs, with Nick Barmby leaving Everton for Liverpool in 2000 and Abel Xavier doing the same in 2002.
Ablett ended his career with more than 100 league appearances for both Liverpool and Everton, also completing a century for Birmingham City.
He retired in 2001 after a stint with Long Island Rough Riders in the United States and then moved into coaching.
