Jordan Henderson is the subject of interest from at least two clubs this summer as the former Liverpool skipper looks to keep his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
The 34-year-old has certainly had quite a journey since leaving Liverpool, with an ill-fated move to Saudi Arabia culminating in hasty switch back to Europe – with Ajax taking him onboard.
However, the drama did not stop there after Dutch media reported in January that Henderson was pushing hard for a move to AS Monaco.
In fact, reports at the time even went as far as to claim that the ex-Liverpool captain was ready to down tools to force through a winter move to the Ligue 1 outfit.
And while Henderson denied these claims, it seems he may make a summer move instead.
Henderson’s Ajax contract runs until the summer of 2026, but the club’s precarious financial situation has created uncertainty around his future.
The midfielder acknowledged Ajax’s money problems during the Monaco saga.
Now Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail has reported that both Nottingham Forest and Marseille are interested in signing the England international.
Forest is keen to add experience to their squad.
The Midlands club can offer Henderson the chance to return to the Premier League while also providing European football after qualifying for the Conference League.
For Henderson, who remains desperate to feature in the 2026 World Cup with England, a return to English football could prove irresistible.
Forest’s European qualification makes them an attractive proposition for a player who has been defending his decision to Thomas Tuchel about remaining at international level despite playing outside England’s topflight.
Meanwhile, Marseille’s interest appears genuine, with the report suggesting they are prepared to offer Henderson a significant role in their squad.
The French side has qualified for next season’s Champions League and seem to have an exciting project under former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.
