Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard

Jordan Henderson is reportedly "open" to a move to Rangers to reunited with Steven Gerrard as part of his management team - should he land the job.

The Liverpool icon has been persistently linked with a return to Rangers boss and is said to be on the shortlist of candidates for incoming owners Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises alongside Russell Martin and frontrunner Davide Ancelotti.

And reports in the Netherlands suggest that the "road is open" for England star Henderson to make a move to Ibrox this summer.

Title-winning Ibrox boss Gerrard previously took Henderson from Anfield to Al-Ettifaq - and it is claimed he "would like" the 35-year-old to join him in the Scottish Premiership if he gets the job.

De Telegraaf state Ajax are keen to offload Henderson's salary - with the veteran contracted until 2026 - with routes to Rangers and his former club Sunderland - who earned promotion to the Premier League last weekend - now on the cards.

Gers' legend Steven Davis has also been touted with a potential return to the club as part of Gerrard's would-be coaching team.

Davis - who has two spells at the club as a player and has taken interim charge of the club previously - is currently part of Michael O'Neill's Northern Ireland coaching team.

And O’Neill cleared the Light Blues' fan favourite to reunite with his former gaffer Gerrard in the dugout - despite conceding he hopes to keep him on his staff.

Steven Davis during Rangers interim boss stint

Asked about a move for Davis to become part of Gerrard's backroom team, he told The Belfast Telegraph: “That’s talk.

Steven would be an asset to anyone’s staff, that’s all I can say.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty at Rangers clearly with ownership.

I think that will be resolved shortly.

“I would understand why someone like Rangers would want Steven to be back involved.

You can lean on him in terms of the team.

"He will give you an honest opinion on players and what better role model could we have for the players than having Steven around.

"Whatever he chooses to do next he will get my support but certainly I wouldn’t want to lose him from the backroom staff.”
