Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson have both shared their relief at the reception Trent Alexander-Arnold received during his final Liverpool appearance.
The Reds vice-captain confirmed he would leave the club at the end of his contract earlier this month, and is set to join Real Madrid on a Bosman transfer.
Supporters did not react well to Alexander-Arnold’s announcement, and the defender was loudly booed during his first appearance since confirming his decision to leave as Liverpool drew 2-2 with Arsenal.
His name was greeted by boos when read out ahead of kick-off, with the defender receiving the same treatment when introduced as a substitute.

Alexander-Arnold was left unused for Liverpool’s penultimate game of the season away at Brighton & Hove Albion, but was introduced at half-time as the Reds finished the campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace ahead of their trophy presentation.
