Jordan Pickford takes Liverpool joke in his stride as Arne Slot asks Jodie Comer question

A fifth successive victory of the season saw Liverpool emerge with the points in the 247th Merseyside derby with Everton.

After Ryan Gravenberch had hooked home Mohamed Salah's clipped pass, the Dutch midfielder turned provider for Hugo Ekitike, who doubled the first-half lead by finishing past Jordan Pickford.

Idrissa Gueye halved the deficit for David Moyes's side but Arne Slot's Premier League champions held on to extend their advantage at the summit.

But you knew all of that, of course.

Here, as always, are the best of the ECHO's 'moments missed'.

Pickford sees the funny side

Jordan Pickford has never been the Kop's No.1 fan and they made sure the Everton goalkeeper was treated as the pantomime villain early on at Anfield with a song that harked back to a derby-day win in December 2018.

Pickford's hash of a clearance allowed Divock Origi to nod home a late winner on that particular afternoon and the Liverpool fans enjoyed themselves in the early going on Saturday lunchtime by referencing it, suggesting that "you couldn't touch the bar with Jordan Pickford's arms".

That was swiftly followed by a chant for Origi, to just hammer home the point.

To his credit, the England international saw the funny side of the chant and clapped the Kop when he emerged for the second period.

All good, clean fun...

Grealish fumes at no yellows

Jack Grealish clearly felt he was getting no sympathy or change out of referee Darren England in his battle with Conor Bradley.

The Northern Irish full-back was tasked with stopping the in-form Everton man on the day and did as good as job as most have this season, even though on-loan Manchester City man Grealish was able to have a big hand in his side's equaliser on the day.

Bradley got tight, was aggressive and did what he could to limit the influence of the former England man, by fair means or foul.

At one stage in the game, Grealish could be seen making a four-fingered gesture to referee England in protest at the number of fouls by Bradley.

Later in the half, Grealish was asking for a caution for Bradley, but stopped short of the card gesture that usually ends in a booking for the person doing it.

Grealish was clearly unhappy with England's unwillingness to put Bradley in the book.

Slot wants to know more

Everton masseur Jimmy Comer probably would have expected to have made his route through Anfield's mixed zone undetected, given the galaxy of Premier League stars who were coming and going around him.

But the long-serving Blues backroom staff member was unable to evade the attention of Arne Slot as he shuffled across the hallway after the game.

Slot, in fact, was even seen speeding up to catch the popular Comer before he made his exit and there was only one line of questioning from the Liverpool boss when he accosted the Everton man.

For those unaware, the masseur is the father of Hollywood actress and all-round Scouse superstar Jodie Comer and Slot was keen to learn a little bit more about his famous, BAFTA-award-winning daughter.

Unfortunately for Slot, the Killing Eve star is from a family a staunch Evertonians and has already revealed herself to be of a similar persuasion.
