Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen looks guaranteed to join Newcastle before the transfer window slams shut after he played no part in their loss against Everton, according to Tim Sherwood.
Strand Larsen was left out of Vitor Pereira’s squad on Saturday (30 August) amid ongoing rumours around his future at the club as Newcastle push for his signature.
Newcastle are in need of new additions in attack with Alexander Isak demanding a move away from Tyneside, and while they have signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for a club-record fee, another arrival is expected before the deadline.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (30 August) that Wolves would demand close to £60m to sell Strand Larsen this summer, and Newcastle have since seen a £55m bid rejected as the Molineux outfit hold firm on their stance.
He has now agreed personal terms with the Magpies and wants to make the move, but while Wolves are not planning to sell Strand Larsen for any price, as revealed by Football Insider, he has still been backed to make a late switch.

Strand Larsen only joined Wolves permanently in July after the option to buy in his loan deal was met, after he impressed on loan from Celta last season with 14 goals in 35 league outings.
The Norway international was not included in Pereira’s squad for their game against Everton on Saturday (30 August), which they went on to lose 3-2, and pundit Sherwood admitted live on Sky Sports (2:18pm) before the clash that he thinks he will definitely move to Newcastle before the deadline.

He said: “They need the here and now.
Strand Larsen is settled, he’s been there a couple of seasons now, he’s settled, looks like he’s really enjoyed it there.
I think it’s very difficult to keep hold of him there, I really do.
“I think he’s had his head turned by Newcastle.
Hopefully they’ve got a replacement lined up.”
Football Insider verdict
Eddie Howe has looked into Strand Larsen’s background and character as Newcastle explore a move for his services, which he is absolutely right to do considering the club’s current situation with Isak.
Newcastle have struggled throughout the transfer window to land a number of their top targets, especially up-front, but things are looking up with Woltemade through the door, and the Norway international would be the perfect player to rotate with him.

Wolves are obviously reluctant to part with him this late in the window, but money should be no object for Newcastle if they sign him, as it would also surely unlock Isak’s big-money move to Liverpool.
If the Magpies are serious about competing at the top of the Premier League once again this season and being a force in years to come, then they need to sign him before the deadline on Monday (1 September) to bolster Howe’s squad and leave him with adequate forward options in Isak’s absence.
