Wolves have received a big boost to their chances of keeping Jorgen Strand Larsen beyond the close of the transfer window.
Newcastle United’s first bid of £50million for Strand Larsen was rejected last week (25 August), with an improved offer of £55m also turned down.
However, the 25-year-old seemed eager to push for a move to St James’ Park, despite Vitor Pereira’s side remaining steadfast in their view that he is not for sale.
Strand Larsen missed Wolves’ 3-2 defeat to Everton on Saturday (30 August), adding further fuel to the rumours that he wants an exit.

Newcastle confirmed the addition of Nick Woltemade over the weekend, for a fee of around £69million including add-ons.
However, the Magpies were eager to bring in another striker to allow the unhappy Alexander Isak to join Liverpool.
Now, Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford, with the 28-year-old set for a medical today before completing a £55m switch.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are in preliminary talks to sign Liverpool playmaker Harvey Elliott before the transfer window closes, sources have told Football Insider.
The Midlands giants are exploring both permanent and loan options to bring the 22-year-old to Villa Park.
However, sources say that Liverpool would prefer to offload Elliott permanently, rather than agreeing to a loan deal.
Before any move for the England Under-21 international can be sanctioned, Villa would have to complete the sale of Emi Buendia to free up funds and space in their squad.
