Fulham fell to a heartbreaking 2-0 loss against Chelsea despite many decision not going in their favour on a frustrating afternoon.

The London derby between Chelsea and Fulham did not fail to impress courtesy of an array of dubious decisions going against the Cottagers.

Josh King was denied an opening goal due to a foul by Rodrigo Muniz, as referee Rob Jones overturned his original decision after input from VAR.

Joao Pedro then scored on the stroke of half-time, despite the half going a minute over the allotted stoppage time.

A further blow, Ryan Sessegnon conceded a penalty due to handball which outraged Marco Silva as Enzo Fernandez dispatched from the spot.

Muniz was given the nod for the game against the Blues today as the pair now share two starts each across all competitions.

The Portuguese boss clearly wants his attacking duo to be in competition with each other to maximise their performances on the pitch.

Interestingly the ex-Everton boss does tend to take off the starting striker early in the second half, with Raul Jimenez coming on for the Brazilian in the 59th minute.

Having broken through last season, the Englishman is beginning to adjust to a starting role for the Cottagers.

Following the departure of Andreas Pereira to Palmeiras, the 18-year-old now faces even less competition in the creative berth.

King cruelly had a goal disallowed after a dubious foul by Muniz was brought to the attention of VAR after appearing to stamp on Trevoh Chalobah with his momentum.

The number 24 played 67 minutes, registering 93% passing accuracy and one key pass as he continues to gather more minutes in the English top-flight.

After ending last campaign in decent form, Ryan Sessegnon has continued to start at left-back for the Cottagers whilst USA international Antonee Robinson builds up his match fitness.

The 28-year-old failed to feature in any of Fulham’s pre-season games and Silva has been bedding him in slowly.

However, the former Tottenham full-back struggled against the Blues and when Robinson came on in the 67th minute, the defence looked far more assured down the left-hand side.

Following on from their 1-1 draw against Man United, the Portuguese manager continues to set up his side in an excellent fashion to get results.

This match was unfortunate due to several decisions not going their way which could have wiped off the two goals they conceded.

However, the former Watford boss has a well-oiled machine operating smoothly which did a pretty decent job against Chelsea and he should not be disheartened by a resolute performance that was tainted by poor officiating.

Despite the unfortunate result, one man that should be praised is the dependability of Bernd Leno who was crucial in keeping the score lower than it could’ve been.

The Germany international made four saves, preventing 1.16 xG during the match, including an imperative last man tackle.

With the World Cup at the end of the season and spots up for grabs, could the former Arsenal shot stopper be bidding to make a shock return to the squad?
