Jota Silva set for move away from Nottingham Forest following Ange Postecoglou takeover

Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva looks set to depart the City Ground ahead of the clubs fixture against Arsenal at the weekend.
Silva was brought to the club in the summer of 2024 under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Portuguese manager was replaced by Ange Postecoglou, who will look to overcome an unwanted record against Arsenal on Saturday.

Postecoglou will likely have to do so without Silva who is reportedly on the move out of the club with Turkish giants Besiktas interested.
Fabrizio Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying: “Besiktas are closing in on deal to sign Jota Silva from Nottingham Forest.
“New winger on the way for Besiktas, deal almost agreed on loan with buy option clause that might turn into obligation, green light imminent from Nottingham Forest.”

Silva moved to Nottingham Forest from Portuguese side Vitoria, and scored three times last season, starting five times, amassing only 854 minutes in the Premier League.
The Portuguese winger has only player 12 minutes so far this season and looks set to be sent packing by new boss Postecoglou.
As Jota leaves the club, Forest’s attack won’t look too light, but attacking issues aren’t a concern for Postecoglou as he takes over from Espirito Santo.
The Australian coach was berated for his expansive open style while at Tottenham, despite leading the club to their first trophy in 17 years.
Having played in a similar fashion throughout his career it seems unlikely Postecoglou will change the style he’s been so widely criticised for.
Postecoglou’s style seems a poor match for the likes of Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo, while Morgan Gibbs-White may be a beneficiary of the ex-Celtic man’s all-out attacking style.

Forest’s attackers have proven they need no encouragement to push forward and attack when the situation allows, but Espirito Santo’s low block, suited the squad’s defenders much more than Postecoglou’s exposed style.
While at Tottenham, Postecoglou could lean on the athleticism of Micky van der Ven but neither Milenkovic or Murillo have the same capabilities.
While Postecoglou might want to live and die by the sword, the Australian has to rein in his style if he’s to see success in the East Midlands.
