Joe Gomez’s Liverpool future has been up in the air ever since the first links between Marc Guehi and the Reds were reported.

However, now that the arrival of Guehi is imminent, questions are once again being asked about the future of Gomez.
With Guehi’s arrival, Liverpool now have five senior centre-backs among their ranks, with 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni also among those options.

Although Gomez’s best position is centre-back, the fact that he can play across the back four is one of the main reasons he’s been kept around for so long.
Although having five senior centre-backs may seem a tad over the top, the fact that Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong are both still trying to get back to full fitness means that there could be a spot for Gomez in Slot’s starting XI.
