The Uruguayan has now been a Liverpool player for three years, and although there have been times when he’s looked likely to be the next big thing, his inconsistency has massively hindered him.
Ever since Nunez was linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in January, talks have been held over his future.
The attacker is still only 26 years old, and he could eventually become a more consistent player, but at the moment, he’s not what Liverpool need to maintain their dominance.
And, while speaking on the Sports Mole YouTube Channel, journalist David Lynch has admitted that he’d be “very surprised” if Nunez was a Liverpool player by the start of the 2025-26 Premier League season.

“I guess it’s a bit of a risk [waiting for Saudi Clubs to bid for Nunez] in that, if they get to the end of the window and he’s still there, then they will be pretty disappointed and the player will be disappointed,” he said.
“I think they’re probably right to take this gamble in that they know what went on in January and that the Saudi interest was there and they were willing to pay a much higher fee.
“The player had a willingness to go there as well, so I think they’re right to stick to their guns on this one because I would be very, very surprised if this window ends with Darwin Nunez there [at Liverpool.
“You’ve got to think that, if that’s the case, then they’re going to end up with a few that they find acceptable.”
Even though Nunez has been a major part of Liverpool’s successes over the last couple of years, now feels like the right time for him to pack his bags.

Other clubs such as Juventus have recently been linked with entering the race for Nunez, but in reality, it feels almost set in stone that the Saudi Pro League is his next destination.
